Frequently Asked Questions for a wedding videographer.

Some general FAQs that should answer most of your questions

If there are any frequently asked questions you think aren’t here, please get in touch and I will answer them. If you’d like to chat please feel free to call or WhatsApp.

What are the benefits of hiring an experienced and creative filmmaker?

You'll have a living memory of one of the biggest and happiest days of your lives, always. Hiring a wedding videographer will ensure your memories are captured and edited to the highest standards.

How long will you spend on location?

This all depends on the length of the ceremony and speeches but, generally, around 8 to 10 hours.

What happens between the filmmaker and photographer on the day?

Before the whole day starts I will always have a friendly chat with the photographer and figure out the best way to work with each other.
We are both looking for the best possible shots but both have very different jobs on the day.
When the photographer is doing the formal shots, which can be between 10 and 30 setups, I will film this part for a short period of time. This is because, at that point, my aim is to move around the venue to capture candid shots. Formal static poses do not translate well onto film so I only use the shots where there is movement, either in between the posing or if the photographer gets the groups laughing/doing fun movements.

When should you start looking for your filmmaker in the planning process?

Most couples start to organise their weddings around a year in advance. As a result, the majority of wedding suppliers take bookings between 6 and 12 months in advance. So, to ensure you get the filmmaker you want, it's a good idea to start enquiring during those months.

What should you expect from the finished product?

You’ll receive both an online showcase and a USB drive in a nice wooden box in the mail.

How long does it take to get the final package? What does that process involve?

Depending on the time of year our turnaround time is between 8 and 16 weeks. Each film is painstakingly edited in real-time with adjustments to the sound, colour correction, export time (turning the footage into a file that can be uploaded to a streaming service). Once the first edit is done you will then receive a proof of your full feature wedding film and after you have watched it you will either approve it or send some minor changes through our online approval form. I do aim to have your film done within the estimated time and I love to take my time when editing to ensure the best possible quality and creativity has gone into each wedding film.

Why are you different?

As mentioned in a lot of my blurb, I consider myself an artist with a passion for filmmaking. I have been working in the creative industry since 2001. I started off as a graphic designer working for marketing and advertising agencies from Scotland to New Zealand. In 2010, I joined the wedding industry and I have never looked back.
I have a decade's experience in the creative industry and natural artistic talent. On top of that, I have over a decade's experience in successfully filming weddings.
I'd be happy to continue blowing my own trumpet but it'll save a lot of time just having a gander at my work, it speaks for itself :)

“The general consensus from everyone we have shown our wedding video to so far has ranged from “This is the best wedding video I have ever seen" to “this is the best thing I have ever seen, ever"!”
