I spent a lovely evening with my mum and my beautiful bridesmaids within Shieldhill Castle the night before our Wedding Day whilst Daniel enjoyed a BBQ with his groomsmen at home.
On our wedding day, our guests arrived to the wonderful sound of the bagpipes before being greeted by our string quartet upon entering the chapel. We decided on a Humanist wedding with one of our close friend’s dad conducting the ceremony. This allowed us to have a very personal ceremony with lots of laughs. After the ceremony, we enjoyed drinks and canapés in the lovely castle grounds before having some photographs taken with our friends, family and wedding party. We moved into the marquee for the speeches and wedding breakfast before our evening guests arrived. After cutting our cake, we moved to the dance floor for our first dance before some ceilidh dancing! We placed photo props on each of our tables to ensure our wedding guests had an accessory for those all important selfies!
We loved that Shieldhill Castle was beautiful both inside and out. We wanted a venue that would allow us to enjoy our wedding day even if the dreaded Scottish weather wasn’t on our side. The chapel was our favourite part of our venue. It looked so beautiful decorated with our candelabras and flowers and filled with our wedding guests.
What stands out most for us is how much we laughed during our wedding ceremony. It was so wonderful to share the story of our relationship so far with our close friends and family before being announced for the first time as Mr and Mrs Scherczer.
Daniel and I loved the idea of being able to see our wedding day from the perspective of our wedding guests. We think it’s an amazing memento of a wonderful day and look forward to watch it on wedding anniversaries in the years to come!
